Garage organization is something that most homeowners want, however are overwhelmed with achieving that goal. Well, it is the holiday season which means you are probably digging in your garage for decorations and more! Is your garage organized and function with a system? If so, tell us your tricks. If not, keep reading for some tips:

  1. Side Shelf Unit: Rather than stacking things up in the corners. Buy a shelving unit so items can be placed neatly. This way everything is visible and out of the way of traffic.
  2. Above Head Storage: There is a lot of space above the cars that could be used. There are racks/shelf that can be installed along the ceiling of your garage. The amount of storage will amaze you. It may be harder to get to, so this area is great for items you don’t use often.
  3. Hooks: Hang what you can! Bikes, tools, yard equipment, extension cords, etc. Many things can be placed on hooks (either from the wall or ceiling.) This will free up a lot of space and give your garage a system.
  4. Labeling: Put like items in a storage box. To go the extra mile, you can even buy all matching boxes. Regardless of the storage box…use labels to mark the box. Then face the labels out so you can easily see what is in the box. This will save a lot of time as you are searching for that box of ornaments!
  5. Frequently Used Basket: Have one basket of items that you use often. Keep that basket front and center to avoid making a mess every time you need something from that container!

I hope some of these tips help you or motivate you to get your garage organized. Take before and after pictures, I would love to see what you accomplished!

The weather channel says 90% chance of rain today , and it is sunshine as I type. As we are always unsure of what will happen, it is important to be prepared for rain. Prepare your home and protect your home from the potential damage of rain. There are a few steps you can complete to further protect your investment and family.

As you await the rainstorm, head outside to clean your gutters. Remove all debris from gutters. This will allow the rain to properly drain. Otherwise, the debris gets clogged in the gutters which will cause the water to overflow or puddle. You also want to remove any debris from drain covers throughout your yard. Lower grass or plants around drain cover to clear space for water to get to the drain. If you have a drainage system in place- make sure the covers are cleared and ready to receive water!

Does your water get directed to your front curb through your drainage system? Well, remove any debris from that exit pipe so the water can be directed efficiently away from your home. You may want to sweep the front curb around your home to prevent any debris from clogging that main pipe.

You also want to make sure there is no piles of leaves or pine needles puddling on your roof prior to a heavy rain. The weight of the wet debris is hard on your roof, which may cause a leak. Take a look around…are there any loose or heavy limbs over your home? If so, you may want to call a tree service to thin out limbs to prevent the weight of water or wind from dropping limbs on your home.

Keep your home safe as you await rain. A few easy steps go a long way!! Making sure your drainage system is clear and ready to do its job is imperative! If you would like to discuss buying or selling a home in Houston, feel free to call me at 281-582-3925. You can also email me at

Pictures are one of the most helpful tools while selling a home. Buyers cruise through listings online, and pictures of the house is what catches their eye. It is so important that the listing agent represents the home with quality pictures. My goal is to always showcase the home and highlight the most appealing features.

The holiday season is here…Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas fill our homes. However, I suggest to leave the holidays out of your MLS pictures while trying to sell your home. The themed table centerpieces are very welcoming, but no one wants to look at a listing in December and see pumpkins on the porch. That reflects that the home has been sitting on the market. It automatically ages the listing and can send the wrong message to potential buyers.

Decorating for the holidays is part of making a house a home, but I suggest getting pictures taken before pumpkins and Christmas trees fill your home. You want timeless pictures, neutral pictures that will appeal to all parties- at all times of the year.

Having quality pictures is one of my main priorities while marketing my listings. If you would like to discuss buying or selling a home in Houston, feel free to call me at 281-582-3925. You can also email me at

Days on market…that is a question that many sellers think of when they are putting their home on the market. Sellers always like to know how many days their house will be active until showings start or until an offer comes in. There is no one way to answer this question. I give suggestions in order to reduce the number of days the house sits on the market. Each market has different variables, but in general- these suggestions cover all bases of each market.

Number one, price the house right! Not too low, not too high. This is where an experienced agent comes in handy to guide the seller on price. Sellers often like to ‘test the market’ and over price their home…just to see what happens. Sometimes, buyers bite- other times, the house sits and sits and looses its momentum on the market. As the momentum reduces, so does the price. The value of pricing your house right for the current market will ultimately increase the profit value for the seller.

Next is curb appeal. You want buyers to want to come into the home. Clean windows, spruce landscaping, clean front door. Making the entrance of your home welcoming will go a long way. This is the biggest bang for your buck! It usually doesn’t cost that much to spruce up the outside of your home- some good elbow grease goes a long way!

Another suggestion is to simplify the inside. Clear off counters, tables, reduce personal items (picture frames, collections, etc.) The openness showcases the home- therefore, make your home more spacious. So, if you are wondering how to be proactive in regards to days on the market…these are just a few suggestions, and I would love to share more.
